Situated at the heads of the Welsh Valleys in South Wales, U.K., Caparo Tubes, Tredegar Division were pioneers in the production of a range of quality cold-formed welded tube and hollow sections manufactured by the electric resistance welded (ERW) method of production.
The plant’s three mills manufacture a range of sizes and qualities dedicated to providing our customers with a product specific to their requirements and a level of service to match.
Products for the structural market are manufactured to EN 10219 S275 as standard and we can supply this to JOH, J2H and JRH at our customer’s preference. For applications where there is a requirement for enhanced impact resistance at low temperature we have developed Caparo Cold Formed S355 m.a. (micro alloy) giving improved weldability and enhancing its suitability for the galvanising process over other higher strength options. EN10219 S235JRH and plain carbon S355 can also be supplied if required.
For more specific applications we can offer mechanical tubes to EN10305, E220, E260 and E320, pressure-tested tubes to EN10255 (formerly BS1387) and scaffolding tube to EN39. Where further processing is required we offer a range of services to cover the needs of the market including cutting to length by cold saw, end dressing, pressure testing and painting facilities.
In addition to longitudinally welded tube we have the facility with our spiral mill to produce double submerged arc welded tubes from 400mm diameter to 1575mm diameter, these are welded both internally and externally providing additional strength over products where only a single weld is applied.
