Caparo Tubes (Tredegar) celebrated 30 years at a party at the plant in South Wales on August 17th, attended by Lord Paul and employees past and present.

The day involved a factory tour attended by 90 people including past Managing Directors; Chris Shaw and Andrew Jarvis, together with current Managing Director Dennis Morrill. The Caparo T1 was on display to illustrate the new innovations taking place within the group and to provide a reflective contract between the small yet ambitious beginnings and the multinational manufacturing group Caparo is today.

Caparo Tubes (then Natural Gas Tubes or NGT) was founded by Lord Paul in Huntington, Cambridgeshire in 1967. A famous meeting between Lord Paul and Michael Foot, then MP for Ebbw Vale, South Wales, resulted in the development of the Tredegar facility, which was opened by HRH Prince Charles on 3rd June 1977.

Caparo Tubes (Tredegar) were pioneers in the production of a range of quality cold-formed welded tube and hollow sections manufactured by the electric resistance welded (ERW) method of production. The tubes are supplied to a diverse range of customers including Scaffolding, Roller Conveyor and Street Furniture specialists.

The party was arranged by the Tredegar team, and Eugene Harkins, Director and General Manager, said, “It means a great deal to us all that Lord Paul and so many families and past employees have taken the time to visit us today. The party is for all those people who have contributed to the success of the site and is a celebration of the ongoing support of their families and the community, but most importantly it is for the employees, past and present, whose dedication and hard work make this a successful and profitable site”.

All the employees were presented with a set of engraved crystal glasses to formally mark the occasion.
